For a number of years Silversmith Seamus Gill has worked with Created for Darley Ireland, designing & handmaking the much sought after annual Darley Irish Oaks winners Trophies.This race is one of the premier races in Europe and one of 5 Irish Classic races run during the year. Each year bespoke silver racing trophies are presented to the owner ,jockey and trainer of the main feature race.
The client is presented with a number of drawnings each year along with paper or metal models,making it is easier to visualize the scale and form of what the final pieces will look like.Once final designs are signed off,Seamus gets to work handmaking these fantastic forms. Darley are a very contemporary and adventurous client to work with when it comes to specially commissioned awards. They are always striving for a fresh,striking, high quality piece and give Seamus the freedom to express himself in these innovative sculptural trophies.
His Excellency President Michael D Higgins made the presentation of these trophies in 2012 commissioned through Created to the winners at this exciting world class event.
